Highland Heights Green Task Force Board of Directors Meeting

Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015

Judy called the meeting to order at 5:10.  Present were: Judy Dearden, Mary Ellen Dombek, Rick Evans, Mary Fash, Al Hess, Marybeth Skala and Amy Milroy

Financial: Judy reviewed the Financial Report.  As of 9/30/15 we have a balance of $2,058.63 in the bank. We have $500 earmarked to help with the MHS Courtyard “Living Lab” Project.  We spent money on 2 speakers for the first time this year and it was a big success and well worth the minimal cost.

Social Media: The website now has 22,757 hits.  Amy will contact GoDaddy about the cost to add another tab/page to our website for a comments section as well as how to properly insert photos to the site.

Upcoming Events:  The monthly events involving a speaker drew record numbers for the year and we saw an increase of 4 in paid memberships.  Other events over the course of 2015 represented challenges with volunteers remaining committed to the times they had signed up for.  This created stress as many backed out at the last minute.  We may revisit having an Eco Fair in a couple of years – perhaps in the spring.

The Green Vendors fair is scheduled for November 7, 2015.

Mayfield Schools:  The courtyard project is still a go.  It is a slow process. The students at MHS have received $2K from Progressive to build more monitors for the space.

The 2016 Campaign was discussed. It was decided to go with a Suburban Agriculture theme. Judy presented a tentative schedule for the year that looks great and will focus on gardening, food and awareness.

The Officers and Board of Directors will remain the same.

Respectfully submitted by:
Amy Milroy, Secretary

Highland Heights Green Task Force Board of Directors Meeting
Thursday, March 26, 2015

Judy called the meeting to order at 5:07.  Present were: Judy Dearden, Frank Sever, Mary Ellen Dombek, Rick Evans,  and Amy Milroy

Financial: Judy reviewed the Financial Report.  We are one member away from our goal and are ahead of budget for 2015.  Our upcoming expenses are printing for HHGTF calendars and more DYI recipes pamphlet.
We have $500 earmarked to help with the MHS Courtyard Project.  The 990N postcard and Attorney General Annual Repost were filed 2/10/15.

Social Media: The website has been updated and now has 17,877 hits.  Amy and Judy have now become administrator on our Facebook page so we can now post.

Upcoming Events: Judy has two speaking events coming up in April - one with Nursery School students at Faith United Church and the other at Mayfield Village Citizens Advisory Committee.  Hillcrest Hospital is hosting an Earth Day Celebration, April 28 in the Atrium.  Ron Hinkle will raffle off a rain barrel and Deb Harpp will pass out HHGTF information. The Gates Mills Environmental Education Center will hold its annual plant sale May 15th.  The Eco Fair is Saturday, October 3 at the CCPL and Judy has 26 groups involved.  The Green Vendors fair is scheduled for November 7, 2015.

Millridge Garden: The PTO has come up with volunteers to help with the garden and composting.  Judy met with the volunteers to explain the project.  Frank and Amy will start lunchtime composting schedules - Amy = Monday and Frank = Friday - as soon as weather permits.

Mayfield Schools: Rosby has cancelled food composting at the High School. The Living Lab project is all hold until testing finishes at the school. Judy went to a meeting at the CMNH regarding “plant sitting” plants from their collection while construction takes place at the museum. Watering would be a concern.  MHS could take the plants that are not deer resistant as the courtyard is totally enclosed.  People are slowly donating to Creeklife.com for the water bottle stations at the High School.

The 2016 Campaign was discussed.  Food and Soil looks like the direction we will go in.

Amy read the Board Meeting minutes from the October meeting they were approved.
